WestEd?s Northeast Regional Resource Center (NERRC) provides leadership and support to promote a quality education and a better life for children with disabilities and their families. NERRC is one of six Regional Resource Centers (RRCs) funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) to provide special education technical assistance to state departments of education and lead agencies for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) early intervention program (Part C).
NERRC provides technical assistance and support in the implementation of IDEA in:
In addition to providing technical assistance to state education agencies, NERRC:
- is a member of the OSEP-funded Technical Assistance and Dissemination (TA&D) Network, which delivers targeted, accessible, research-based information and support to state and local agencies to improve results for infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and their families.
- coordinates regional workgroups involving representatives from the state departments of education and the lead agencies for Part C of the IDEA in each of our eight states; and
- promotes increased collaboration between and integration of general education with special education in our work with states and, through them, local school districts.
