"I was diagnosed of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of the floor of the mouth 9 years ago. This was treated through a primary surgery and 30 days of post operative radiotherapy. I thought I had beaten the cancer. 6 (six) years after the treatment, through a follow-up scan, 5 (five) slow growing metastatic noodles were found on my lungs. It was a big blow to me as I was completely confused about how to fight the new disease.

My ENT Surgeon, Mr Allasdiar Mace of Harley Street ENT, advised that we monitor the growth of the cancer cells to determine the appropriate time to commence treatment and also determine the appropriate treatment(s) to combat the disease. A couple of options were considered until my GP at Cromwell Hospital, Dr Helene Nguyen, recommended that I meet with Dr. James Wilson.

I subsequently met with Dr Wilson, a very sound and caring Consultant Clinical Oncologist with specialisation in lung and skin cancer treatment in London. He took his time to explain available treatment options and suggested Stereotactic Radiotherapy.

Dr Wilson constituted a team of experts from all the relevant fields to review my case and schedule the treatment. The treatment was administered in September 2024. It is now a year after and recent follow-up CT scan revealed that there are no new lesions, and the disease has been controlled. This clearly shows the significant benefit of Stereotactic Radiotherapy. There does not seem to be any observable side effect of this treatment very much unlike other known cancer treatments. I feel generally better and healthier.
